It's because most referee's generally agree with each other, and the one in the VAR room will usually back the one on the pitch even if they've made an incorrect decision.

It was a ruthless pummelling, can't see even Citeh (if they get through against Lyon tomorrow) competing with Bayern in this form.
The sheer pace of Alphonso Davies, scary stuff. You can't really defend against pace like that.
