Destiny 2

Post by shadow » Tue Oct 01, 2019 8:26 pm

Surely someone else in here plays it? Heh.

The original campaign and first three expansions are free on all platforms now, apparently.

My first log in on the Steam client...Destiny 2 is at capacity, please wait

Sigh, haven't seen that stupidity since the Destiny 1: Rise of Iron expansion

Oh man going back to the moon from D1 is weird =) Rawr. I can't say I love everything about Destiny, but it's still great.

Watched a video of the new opening. Do the graphics always look so, I'm not sure how to describe it - mid-range? previous-gen?

[edit] ah, "recommended" system requirements list a GTX 970, so that could explain it.

Couldn't say, I don't find them particularly disagreeable. But the original platforms were Xbox One and PS4, anything beyond that was a bonus.

After Destiny 1 we were surprised the ps4 pro/x1x enhancements ever even showed up

PC version came pretty late to the party so not terribly surprising. Even with cross save, you still have to buy content on whichever platform you want to play it on. (I'm doing two platforms, even though that kinda p*** me off.)

Downloaded it and played through the tutorial and the first "legacy" (red legion) mission.

This game does a terrible job at introducing itself. The tutorial boss fight has other players in the same fight, and you have to eliminate "100%" of enemies, but they continue coming after you meet that target?

During the red legion mission, there was the occasional mention of getting "supercharged" but no explanation of what that means. I had to figure out what the HUD elements were with little explanation - including basics such as which one was the health bar.

For a looter shooter, loot drops seem infrequent. Aside from the bit where you pick up weapons for the quest, I only got one new loot item on the first part of the red legion quest (just before getting kicked off a ledge in a cinematic).

I do need to withdraw the comment about graphics - it looks very pretty. I think whoever encoded the video I watched did the game a disservice.

The "whole world in the fight" type quests typically only happen at the beginning or end of campaigns. They are a bit odd.

And yeah, it's definitely not Borderlands. I don't mind that, since 99% of Borderlands loot is useless crap. Hell, most RPG loot is too. I kinda hate that sort of thing anyway, it's a gigantic waste of time.

I do find the starting at 750 light to be bonkers, but I guess they couldn't really make the older content challenging for replaying.
