^^ and of course harassment results:

Hey, this is Ben. My wife Rebecca and I have been the target of a pretty big internet storm for the last five days following our Epic Games Store timed-exclusive announcement for Ooblets. We’ve been trying to make ourselves as available as possible to maintain an open discourse with newcomers — some friendly, some extremely aggressive — and unfortunately quite a number of them have decided to cross multiple lines into the realm of harassment. We wanted to take the time to put together an official statement in regard to all that.

Greetings!

Yep, the plain ... "hate" for EGS is just uncontrolled, troll level.
I have been experiencing it since MW5 was announced as an EGS exclusive, didnt help that the developer (PGI) relations with the community hasnt been stellar for some time now.

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2019/0 ... clusivity/
For the first 3 years, Chyr was the only person on the project, but more people have since become involved. “We’re still a very small operation. Until very recently, we had at most 3 people full time. A lot of people on the team have also foregone receiving a salary – so they’re tied closely to the success of the game. Thanks to the deal with Epic, I’ve been able to secure some stability for the team.”

Stability, ultimately, is the word that defines the Epic’s Store rise in prominence amongst developers. Many devs that have signed deals with Epic have been accused of cashing-in, of denying players the right to pick their purchase point in exchange for a cheque. Yet the reality for them is less about getting rich quick and more about mitigating failure.

I'm an EGS fan in general but you have to admit, the last major competition Steam had bombed pretty spectacularly.

I still miss one of my Impulse games. Haven't been able to log into Gamestop Downloader for ages. o.o

I already own the first two Arkham games, but never got Arkham Knight due to the bad PC port. Are the Lego Batman games any fun?

the Epic Games Store dropped two Batman trilogies — a total of six PC games starring the caped crusader — onto its weekly free games lineup. This is the largest selection of titles Epic has offered since launching in December 2018.

The PC port wasn't great (especially at first) but I still finished Arkham Knight, I'd give it a solid 7/10 (maybe 7.5.) Definitely worth playing if you haven't yet.

It was one of those things that really needed DX12 or Vulkan, I think. Huge amount of geometry and particle effects.

Couldn't say about the others tho.

There was a reddit post doing the rounds a few months ago making all sorts of claims that EGS was doing bad things. I just found this analysis of those claims from someone who has a clue:

https://nickcano.com/epic-games-spyware/
Instead, what I want to do is communicate just how much nuance goes into this type of research. It is very important to be thorough, and conclusions shouldn't be drawn by such high-level assessments. For that reason, I will expand on the research outlined in the Reddit thread, digging into everything on a much more intimate level so that everyone can have a better understanding. I will get pretty technical, but will do my best to put everything in layman's terms.

EPIC Games Store Offering Copies of "Metro 2033: Redux" and "Everything"

The EPIC Games Store, the digital storefront most PC gamers love to hate, has made available two free gamers for those who want to simply login to their store. The first game is Metro 2033: Redux, the updated Metro 2033 version that uses its sequel, Metro: Last Light's graphics engine.

So many free games I probably won't even play heh. :p Though I have played some of them, and bought a game because of one of them.
