Very few things went right in the development of BioWare’s latest game, an online cooperative shooter that was first teased in mid-2012 but spent years floundering in pre-production. Many features weren’t finalized or implemented until the very final months, and to some who worked on the project, it wasn’t even clear what kind of game Anthem even was until that E3 demo in June of 2017, less than two years before it actually came out.
TL;DR - they learned *nothing* from what happened with Andromeda's development.

Anthem has received a lot of criticism since its launch, and I agree with many of the issues that others have pointed out. What the game does right overshadows what it does wrong, however, and my enjoyment and love for the game’s polished and unique core continues. If BioWare’s goal was to deliver high fidelity air combat using mech suits, they have definitely delivered on that goal
I must admit, the core flight and combat mechanics did feel good, even in the demo.

High fidelity air combat using mech suits -> Wouldnt that imply comparing to real life air combat using mech suits? 8-[

They have some advanced technology in Edmonton

I think they mean that it feels responsive to your inputs.

I liked this game. Despite its' wonkiness and peoples general lack of faith in Bioware it was a solid game.

I obviously wouldn't call it amazing, but the audiovisual presentation is well done and the gameplay is good (with some stupid gotchas going through the plot.)

All in all I just hope Bioware still plans to keep working on it. :p The Cataclysm event was weird, but interesting.

Details on Anthem Next are hazy, but among other things, the game’s developers plan to overhaul the loot, the quests, the social aspects of the game, the difficulty, the progression system, and the world map. One person on the project said they’re planning to change the game’s entire structure.
My bet is that they're going Free to play.

Doubt it. It'd probably be shut down two months after that work finished.

It happened with Destiny 2. The difference of course is that game was successful.

And they already did with SWTOR, so yeah I guess. I just don't see it happening though. It wouldn't likely gain much out of it.

Honestly it seems like these coop/connected games lately are just a gigantic waste of time and people are giving up on them all at once.
