In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, RTX raytracing is enabled only for shadows—not lighting, not reflections. This makes the game another showcase for the endless possibilities of raytracing technology. First, we saw raytraced reflections in Battlefield V, then global illumination (lighting & shadows) in Metro Exodus, and today, raytraced shadows in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Eidos has also added support for NVIDIA DLSS, which is an artificial-intelligence-based image upscaling and sharpening technology that promises higher frame rates with minimal image quality loss.
The shadows certainly look more numerous with RTX enabled, though obviously at a hefty performance cost.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Now Officially Available For Linux:

While Shadow of the Tomb Raider could previously play under Steam Play, this latest Tomb Raider title now has a native Linux port that is backed using the Vulkan graphics API.

23-Way Graphics Card Comparison With Shadow of the Tomb Raider On Linux:
The Linux port of Shadow of the Tomb Raider basically recommends at least an AMD GCN 1.2 or newer graphics card or GeForce GTX 680 or newer, basically the bare requirements on Linux for having a Vulkan driver out-of-the-box. It should also be possible getting a GCN 1.0/1.1 graphics card working if opting to use the AMDGPU DRM driver rather than Radeon DRM as needed for Vulkan driver support. But Feral recommends at least a Radeon RX 480 Polaris graphics card for decent performance. Current Intel graphics are not fast enough to run this game on Linux.

Very nice - I assume that's on the High preset? How much of an improvement is that over the old card (RX 570?)?

Didnt try the 570 with this MB+CPU+RAM setup.

Another update revisit, this time 2400G vs 3400G:

Obviously not too much difference performance wise, the main benefit of the 3400G over the 2400G is that it runs cooler/less power consumption.

Haven't set up the 2060 Super on Windows yet, but Linux is performing well (especially CPU wise). :sweet:
