The connectivity specs might make a difference: it's got 2x2 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, BT 4.1/BLE, USB 3.0 + 2.0, HDMI 2.0, IR Receiver and Gigabit Ethernet.

If it works well could be a killer streaming box because it has a fast processor and good and fast image processing capabilities, if they manage to get every feature to work on launch. :hypnodisk:

Looks as if there will be a minor refresh:

This new model appears to be a minor refresh, as the barely-changed "mdarcy" hardware codename would imply. It's speculative, but this refresh could also accompany a general update for the product line to Android 9 Pie

Mine too, it upgraded last night and currently is the device I watch HBO Go with. Don't mock the device Nvidia chose to actually support well, thegrommit

Well, that means it could probably be tricked into running full Android and console emulators, eh? :-k

I don't see a need to upgrade, but it's good to see the Shield be continued:

The changes you can't see are more significant. The Pro evidently packs a Tegra X1+ chip, which provides a modest performance boost versus the Tegra X1 used in previous models. Support for Dolby Vision HDR is a big get, too. It'll be $20 more than the current model at $199

How do you cast from an android phone to the shield? I tried using the FA Player app (no androidTV version) and it can't find the Shield. It first tries to use your mic to find the device, then asks for a PIN that's supposed to be displayed on the home screen of the target device - but the Shield doesn't display anything.
