Anyone still here and want to fold with me?

LOL, I'm still folding off and on, but for my own team. I came back here on a whim just out of nostalgia. This place was hopping back in the day of the nForce 2 boards.

I'd love to get back into it at some point, but it's the middle of a crazy heatwave at the moment and it's not an option for me at home.

It's a shame that a lot of DC projects have been wiped of donors due to mining though, I think of the potential charitable scientific benefit we've lost due to many folks just wanting to make a quick buck.

I lost a sister to leukemia in 2004, and a 32 year old nephew to pancreatic cancer a few years ago, so it's a cause I try to keep up with. Every little bit helps.

The cost of electricity is what's holding me back right now, but I'm seriously considering going solar.

So we'll see.....

My 290X is dead, Jim.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to keep the other guys on the team Folding, but hopefully in a couple months when the seasons change I can get a couple back in. With a modern GPU, even just folding on weekends can contribute a couple million points a month.

Now that it is starting to cool off here in Ohio, I am going to stick a dedicated rig in my bedroom. My wife hates being cold, and our bedroom is the coldest room in the house since it has 3 exterior facing walls. Having a system in there folding 24/7 raises the temp a couple degrees for her. LOL. It's a perfect use for the residual heat. Now I just need to decide what rig and gpu I want to use.

Last time I just had multiple low-speed fans. A soft buzz isn't bothersome at all really. Our bedroom is big enough that I can put it on the other side of the room and it's pretty much inaudible. I just try to keep the exhaust fan(s) pointed toward the center of the room
