This card is going to be faster than a original 3070 as well, isn't it? This generation is so crazy that some cards became obsolete before they were availableimpar wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 12:03 pm Greetings!

Re: What's NVIDIA up to...? v2
You do know 12GB GDDR6 = 192bit bus right?, it also has fewer cores so they'd have to clock it pretty high (~2.1Ghz) to match a 3060 Ti let alone a 3070 (~2.65Ghz).
Some websites can't do basic math...

Looks like the 3060 12GB variant will be GA106 based also (not GA104), GA103 will be the 3070 Super/Ti etc.
GA102 12GB GD6X is the interesting one, again likely a 3080 Super (or a 3090 12GB), but it could also be a chopped 3060/3070 with a 384bit bus.

No 16GB GDDR6/256Bit SKUs yet though.

So now we have Ultra (again?), besides "vanilla", "Ti" and "Super". Not confusing at all. Sigh.
The stock situation is so ridiculous, nVidia can announce whatever they want, it's not like it's going to be available

No sig due to budget cuts.

I don't mind the naming as long as they keep the actual SKU specs the same, it's the sneaky stuff that irks like when they hobble the core/memory six months later to something cheaper/slower and keep the model number the same.

There, 3060 with 12GB, did that cost too much to do, nVidia?

Re: What's NVIDIA up to...? v2
Because it's a 192bit bus though, they only really had two main choices - 12GB or 6GB.
Having just 6GB on a new '60 series card just wasn't going to wash this time. 8GB on the 3070 isn't ideal either, but it's still 'enough' at the moment considering the vast majority of last gen mid-high end cards are all still 8GB also (Vega's, 5700's, 2070/80's etc).
